MPS GP Conference: Balancing the Risks

Bill Styles Memorial Award – Supporting the MPS GP Conference
The Bill Styles Memorial Award was set up by MPS to encourage general practitioners to further their education.

The award is in memory of Dr William (Bill) Styles, Chairman of Council of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) from 1992 to 1995 and Council member of MPS from 1990 to 1995. He was also Chairman of the MPS General Practice Advisory Board from 1990 to 1995.

The award recognises Bill’s many contributions to general practice, the College, MPS, and in particular his interest in the education of younger general practitioners.

Bill Styles entered general practice in 1968 at a time when educational arrangements were in their infancy. His vision of the potential for general practitioners to deliver high quality care, provided that they had appropriate education, led him into a variety of posts. His particular concern was the quality of training for junior doctors and medical education for general practitioners
